Noah - 8 years old

WOW I can't believe that I have a child that is 8 years old. I remember when we thought God might would never choose to give us a child and now that blessing is 8. OOOOOH how the time flies. He is growing up way to fast. He really enjoys school and is good at it. He does things with math in his head that I have to have a paper to figure out. Sometimes I ask him how he comes up with an answer and when he explains it to me I am amazed. We have one smart kid. He really likes all sports but currently he is playing basketball. He would love to play football but we don't want to join the boys and girls club just so he can do that. He is just going to have to wait until he is old enough to play in his school league. In basketball he plays in the guard position. He is really fast and loves to steal the ball from the other team. We are very proud of him in his academics and in athletics but we are more proud for his spiritual achievements.

The other day I picked him up from school and he was telling me how he was trying to convince one of his classmates that the Bible really was true. They have even found chariots and stuff where the Israelites crossed the sea. (proud momma moment)

Another proud parent moment was when we were in the car the other day. One of his friends was with us. His friend asked him if believing in God made you a christian. Noah answer was No it is more than just believing in God.

We have talked before about the devil believing there is a God. Just because you believe there is a God doesn't mean you have given your life to him and asked him to be your Lord and repented. I was so proud that he was able to share his beliefs with someone else.

There are days that you want to pinch their little heads off and think they don't have a chance of growing up to be a decent human being and then there are those days when you just get a glimpse of the potential they have to become the man that God has planned for them to be.

My prayer continues to be that he follows his name sake and he is a man after God's own heart. I pray that he will always stand for what is right and be able to share his faith so openly. That he will choose the narrow path and bring as many as possible along with him. He has the potential to be a great leader in God's army.
This is just a total side note. I can do that because it is my blog. Really I don't even have to make sense if I don't want to. Anyway, the other night we were at the school praying before See You At the Pole the next morning. We had been given a prayer guide that we could follow. One section was talking about protecting the children from pornography, sex out side of marriage, anyway you get my drift. After I got done praying Noah pops the question. You know the one you are never ready to answer.
Noah - Mom, what was that S word you just said.
Mom - Sex (at this point I am thinking OH NO why did I say that out loud)
Noah - Mom, what is sex?
Mom thinking in her head and dad set silently staring at mom to answer. What should I say? How much does he already know? What is the least amount of information that I can give and him be satisfied with the answer?
Mom - Sex is something that God gave husbands and wives to do and it is something that you are not suppose to do until you get married.
Thankfully, he accepted that as a good enough answer. I am not ready for that full blown conversation. Since he is only 8 hopefully I have a few more years to prepare myself. Or maybe that should be a daddy job???????

I can't believe Noah is 8! He is so cute! It amazes me how much kids are learning about sex at such a young age and I don't think it is from their parents!

there is no way he could be 8 because that would mean my baby is almost 8! and that's just not possible
